Erath Winery Description
In 1967 Dick Erath was one of the first to recognize the grape growing potential of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. By 1969 he planted 23 different varietals on a four-acre plot of land to see which grapes would flourish. Pinot Noir was the answer.
Since then, Erath Winery has played a major role in creating Oregon’s wine industry and solidifying its reputation as a world-class wine region.
Erath produces three designations of Pinot Noir and has built a strong reputation for doing so. As the winery enters its fourth decade of winemaking, Erath perseveres to craft exceptional wines that reflect the rich history of the brand and the prestige of the region. Erath is the original winery of the Dundee Hills.
Light in color but complex in flavor, with lots of cinnamon, clove and other spices weaving through the red berry flavors, lingering gently on the refined finish.

Erath 2006 Leland Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
“2006 Oregon Pinot Noir - Wines of the Week” Slashfood.com
...Compared to what you might pay for a mass-market Pinot Noir from California – is well worth the splurge. These are wines you are going to remember long after you've finished them... 2006 Erath Winery Pinot Noir Leland: Baked, sweet cherries and vanilla are on the nose of this silky wine. Despite its balanced structure, it's got a spicy finish that lingers and a rich, chocolate-y mid-palate.

Crisp and clean, this all-purpose white wine will please those who enjoy moderate (12.7% alcohol), stainless steel-fermented wines with clean fruit flavors. Apples and pears combine in the body of the wine, with a hint of cheese sticks in the finish.
