Founders Philippe and Bonnie Girardet established this European-style wine estate in 1971. The site features an ideal microclimate on the edge of the warmer interior Umpqua Valley and the cooler coastal mountain range.
The 35 acres of estate vineyards are farmed using sustainable methods, growing natural grapes in a healthy environment. Beneficial insects and cover crops are used to keep the vines healthy without the use of pesticides, and selected animals are encouraged to live in the vineyards and keep pests away. Dry-farming techniques are used to produce small, flavor-packed berries and conserve water. The vines are always hand-harvested and pruned.
The original vineyards were first planted in 1971. New vines have been planted in a north-south orientation. They include more of our traditional varieties as well as some new Italian varieties like Sangiovese and Barbera. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in a solid shale hillside behind the winery.
The winery is located 18 miles south of Roseburg
