The Pines Vineyard's Old Vine Zinfandel was first planted in The Dalles, OR by an Italian stone mason in the late 1800s. Louis Comini made his home in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge, bringing with him grape vines from his homeland in Genoa, Italy.
Lonie Wright, the current owner of The Pines 1852, revived the old vines in 1982. The Old Vine Zinfandel make The Pines one of the oldest vineyards in the Northwest.
Wines offered are: Pinot Gris, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Ice Gris, and Big Red and Satin, both blends.
The Pines 1852 has a tasting room located in downtown Hood River, Oregon. Tasting is also offered at the vineyard if scheduled in advance.
Tasting room hours: Wednesday to Monday, 12pm-6pm; Thursday to Saturday, 12pm-9pm. there is live music every Thursday and Friday from 6pm-8pm
