Denise and Carlos Figueroa came to Oregon in 1995 to raise their family and grow their winegrapes. Here they found rich, gently sloping land nestled in the foothills of the southern Umpqua Valley. Their vines were planted 3 feet apart in the rows; fruit yield is only one ton per acre. The vineyard marches to its own microclimate of bright, sunny mid-days, indirectly-lit mornings and evenings, and cool, foggy nights, a winning combination for organically grown Pinot Gris and Merlot.
Gus Knowles is a master wood artist. Here he has fashioned wooden drawers within drawers, old fashion kitchen implements and exotic bowls (not shown) made from local woods - cherry, olive, maple, oak, etc.
These sculptures and more are on exhibition and sale at the Wild Rose Tasting Room.
